Social Communication
Social communication skills are essential for building meaningful relationships, participating in everyday activities, advocating for needs, and navigating a changing world. This training explores how to support the development of social and communication skills through a neuroaffirming, strengths-based approach that honors individual differences and promotes authentic connection.
Participants will learn how to understand social communication, consider the impact of masking and mental health, identify future-focused skills, assess social and communication strengths and needs, and develop individualized intervention plans. The training provides practical strategies for teaching social skills, supporting self-advocacy and student assent, partnering with learners, implementing accommodations and adaptations, and creating environments where all students can communicate, connect, and thrive.
