Social Communication (COMING SOON!)

Mikki Bohling, M.S.Ed., MA Ed., SLP-CCC

Social communication is essential for building relationships, engaging in learning, and navigating everyday interactions. In this training, participants will learn how to support meaningful communication across contexts while honoring all forms of communication, including speech, AAC, gestures, and writing. Educators will explore strategies such as modeling, role-play, and embedding natural opportunities for practice through peer interactions and daily routines. The session also highlights developmentally appropriate supports, tools like visuals and social narratives, and ways to promote motivation, independence, and generalization so students can communicate more effectively across settings.

Five diverse elementary students sit together at a classroom table, smiling and talking as they use tools like a tablet, clipboard, and emotion cards to practice social communication skills.
